Term Dates 

Teachers in state schools are required to undertake five Inset days in addition to the 190 teaching days children are required to be in school. The days are determined by the school in order to meet the training needs of the staff.

The INSET Days for 2026 - 2027 are:

INSET DAY 1 – Tuesday 1st September 2026

INSET DAY 2 – Wednesday 2nd September 2026

INSET DAY 3 – Friday 23rd October 2026

INSET DAY 4 – Wednesday 27th January 2027

INSET DAY 5 – Wednesday 21st July 2027

Key Statutory dates for 2026 - 2027 

• Key stage 2 tests (Year 6)
  The statutory key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May 2027.
• Multiplication tables check (Year 4)
  Schools must administer the multiplication tables check within the 2-week period from Monday 7 June 2027.
• Phonics screening check (Year 1 & Y2 resits-if required)
  Schools must administer the phonics screening check within the 1-week period from Monday 14 June 2027.
