Year 2
Welcome to Year 2!
Year 2 is a very special year as the children take on the important responsibility of being the oldest children in Key Stage 1. As our Year 2 children grow in confidence and independence, they have a wonderful opportunity to become role models for our Reception and Year 1 children. We encourage them to show kindness, respect, responsibility and enthusiasm for learning, setting a positive example for the younger children to follow.
Year 2 is a year full of exciting learning, new experiences and opportunities to develop independence. We will encourage every child to challenge themselves, celebrate their achievements and develop a love of learning as they prepare for the next stage of their school journey.
One of the highlights of the year will be our visit to SeaCity Museum in Southampton, where the children will bring their learning about The Titanic to life. The visit will give them the opportunity to explore the history of the Titanic and deepen their understanding through hands-on experiences and fascinating exhibits.
In the summer term, we will also visit Wisley, linking beautifully with our Science learning about plants. The children will have the chance to explore the gardens, discover a wide variety of plants and see first-hand how plants grow and thrive.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, laughter, discovery and adventure, and watching our Year 2 children flourish as confident, caring and responsible members of our school community.
