Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Year 4 is an exciting and important year filled with new challenges, growing independence and memorable experiences. One of our highlights is our residential trip to Minstead Study Centre, where children will develop teamwork, resilience and confidence while enjoying outdoor learning in a beautiful setting.

Throughout the year, we focus on building strong foundations in maths and English, with a particular emphasis on mastering times tables in preparation for the summer Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). Alongside this, children deepen their reading comprehension, develop their writing across a range of genres, and strengthen their problem-solving skills in maths.

Year 4 is also a time for children to take on greater responsibility – organising their learning, managing homework, contributing thoughtfully to discussions and supporting one another as a team. By the end of the year, they will be ready and confident to embrace the exciting challenge of Upper Key Stage 2.
