Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 – A Year of Adventure, Achievement and New Beginnings

Year 6 is such a special year in primary school – a year full of new experiences, exciting challenges, important milestones and plenty of memories to treasure throughout the last year of primary school.

Our year begins with a three-day residential trip to Marchant’s Hill, giving the children the chance to step outside their comfort zones, try new things and challenge themselves. Through a range of outdoor adventures and team-building activities, the children will develop their confidence, independence and resilience, whilst having lots of fun along the way.

Throughout the year, the children will work hard as they prepare for their Key Stage 2 SATs. We are incredibly proud of the determination and maturity they show as they build on everything they have learnt throughout their time at primary school. Alongside their academic learning, we place a strong focus on supporting the children as they prepare for the next exciting chapter of their lives. Developing friendships, self-belief, independence and the skills they need for secondary school is an important part of their Year 6 journey.

As the year draws to a close, we will celebrate everything the children have achieved with our very special Leavers’ Service at Winchester Cathedral. This will be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their time at primary school, celebrate their achievements and look forward to all that lies ahead.

Year 6 is a year of challenge, growth, celebration and lasting memories. We are so excited to share this final chapter of primary school with the children and to see all that they will achieve along the way.
